Christopher Neff joined McCorkell in 2016, and in 2018 was promoted to Head of Contact Centre APAC.
Tell us about your role at McCorkell
My role is as Head of Contact Centre is to lead the team to deliver first class experiences for our clients and their buyers across all channels.
Being the Voice of the Customer, it is my job to ensure these insights are translated into actionable strategic thinking, helping shape the prospects journey in order to achieve the best outcome. Ultimately delivering a great customer experience and a healthy pipeline for our clients.
What’s your story?
Growing up in a small country town.. And I mean small! I had no idea what I wanted to be. My exposure to the market was limited to the farming industry, so when I turned 17, I hoped in my car, drove to Sydney and got a job in Retail. Very quickly I learnt I had a talent for understanding what buyers wanted and became very successful in my retail career. After a very long “Travel the world” experience, I found myself landing into the world of Contact Centres and Marketing. This turned out to be an easy in for me, as understanding the voice of the customer and knowing how to translate that qualitative information into actionable insights drove great success.
I’m now at that part in my story where I have 2 beautiful kids, a loving wife and an extended family at McCorkell. I would say my story has really only just begun!
What excites you most about your industry?
Definitely the nerd factor! The sheer volume of both qualitative and quantitative data available to us puts me in awe. Having this information not only helps guide and build our marketing strategies, but it places the journey of the buyer in their own hands by giving them a sense of control that leaves them feeling they took themselves down their own marketing route. Knowledge is great!
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“Listen to hear, don’t listen to respond”
This is probably the best advice I have received. This has changed me from being reactive to proactive and has given me the ability to better understand others opinions, approaches and reasoning.
Who inspires you?
My 2 daughters. Nothing inspires me to achieve more than my kids. The feeling that I am making my kids proud is why I push myself every day.
What have you just learnt recently that blew you away?
Back in 2014 on Black Friday, Cards Against Humanity removed their products from sale. They instead sold a Bullsh*t Box, that literally contained feces from a Bull and was only $6. This was done as a protest against the fact that consumers would literally buy anything if it was on sale. They sold over 30,000 units!
If you had your time again, what would you do differently?
I would definitely save my money and travel more. I had the most fun travelling around and have since been to 56 countries. If I had my time again, I would save, save & travel more.
How do you unwind?
I am a game programmer in my spare time, I find it extremely relaxing to unwind in front of a few thousand lines of code. It does what I tell it to, and if it ever doesn’t, it’s because I did a poor job at letting it know how to go about it.

I think we are busy enough in our days, researching, reading & learning. I say ditch the business books and read or do something you have a passion for. We need more time for ourselves.
